Must have APPs for student

UNIDAYS: Unidays is an app that gives you discount from most stores around you. It’s free to sign-up for all you need is your university details (Every uni are associated with them). Most deals start from getting 10% off products, this is a very good scheme for money saving.

  • Nectar card: if you like to shop from Sainsbury, E-bay, etc. Nectar card is definitely for you. It basically gives you point for every item you purchased, this point can then be used as a voucher to buy things

  • Nando’s card: I’m sure most people that visit Nando’s often have this card, if you don’t try getting one. For every visit at Nando’s (buying food) you get a Nando’s point and after, I think 7 visits when your point is full. You are eligible for using those points in exchange for a meal (cool right!)

  • NUS card: Getting a NUS card is kind of a waste of money (I got one last year, but I haven’t used it thanks to UNIDAYS). You can use your student ID for proof as a student i.e. makes you eligible for stores student discount instead of using NUS card. If you’re thinking you need one for getting cheap train ticket, just get the student train card instead

  • Student rail card: You get a very cheaper train ticket compared to everyone else. When going back home, the normal train ticket for me is £60(very expensive) but with the train card I get my ticket for £40(still expensive, but cheaper than £60)

  • Student bank account (eligible for overdraft): You might be thinking your maintenance loan is high but wait till they pay, then you will realize it’s actually not enough especially after paying your rent. Do some research on your bank, get information on whether they give student over draft (it comes in handy when you’re very low on cash). I use Santander and they basically have the best scheme, not only did I get £1,500 over draft I also get free student train card (love it)

  • Trainline: if you travel by train or you like national express, they are good. If you also try to book your travel ticket in advance, it’s very cheap. When you book your nation express ticket on the app it’s cheaper compared to when you book your ticket from national express website.

  • Your university APP: you definitely should have this APP on your phone, it’s easy life for you. Your time table it at the tip of your finger and also there are other advantages that comes with it.

  • Wowcher: I like this APP so much, there is so many cheap deals to go for.

  • Groupon: this is similar to wowcher.
